    Prayer to St. Raphael

Most glorious Prince, Archangel Raphael, be mindful of us and pray for us, here and in every place, to the Son of God.

O God, who gave your servant Tobias the holy archangel Raphael for a companion on his journey, grant that during our earthly pilgrimage we may always be protected by his watchful care and strengthened by his help.

    Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

St. Raphael Prayer Before A Journey

    Dear Saint Raphael,
    Angel of travelers,
    be with me
    and guide me
    on this journey.
    Protect me from
    sickness and danger
    and guard those
    I leave behind.
    Let your wings
    enfold me
    while I am away
    and return me
    safely home.
    Amen.

    Saint Raphael

    'You are Raphael the Healer,
    You are Raphael the Guide,
    You are Raphael the Companion
    Ever at Human sorrow's aide.'

    On the small beads:
3 'Hail Marys' to Mary, the Queen of angels.

    On the 9 beads:
On each bead in honor of the nine angelic choirs, one in honor of each choir, namely: Angels, Archangels, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Principalities, Powers, Cherubim and Seraphim say:

'Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of Hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your Glory!
    Glory be to the Father:
Glory be to the Holy Spirit!'

    Concluding Prayer:
'Saint Raphael, angel of health, of love, of joy and light, pray for us'.

Novena to St. Raphael The Archangel

Glorious Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, you are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace. You are a guide of those who journey by land or sea or air, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners. I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. Because you are the medicine of God," I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities of my soul and the ills that afflict my body. I especially ask of you the favor (name it) and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

St. Raphael, of the glorious seven who stand before the throne of Him who lives and reigns, Angel of health, the Lord has filled your hand with balm from heaven to soothe or cure our pains. Heal or cure the victim of disease. And guide our steps when doubtful of our ways.

This Novena is to be said for 9 days and then published.

** The Sacred Scriptures have revealed the proper names of only three Angels, all of whom belong to the Choir of the Archangels. The names are well known to all, namely: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael. Ancient apocryphal literature of the Old Testament contains several other names of Archangels in addition to the three just mentioned. Like the sources themselves, these other names are spurious. Names like Uriel, Raguel, Sariel, and Jeremiel are not found in the canonical books of Sacred Scripture, but in the apocryphal book of Enoch, fourth book of Esdras,[1] and in rabbinical literature. The Church does not permit proper names of Angels that are not found in the canonical books of the Bible. All such names that were taken from apocryphal writings were rejected under Pope Zachary, in 745. There must have been danger of serious abuses in this regard during that century, because a similar step was taken in a synod held at Aix-la-Chapelle in 789.
