Prayers For Specific Needs

Prayer for Artists
Bless the creators, O God of creation,
who by their gifts make the world
a more joyful and beautiful realm.
Through their labors
they teach us to see more clearly
the truth around us.
In their inspiration
they call forth wonder and awe
in our own living.
In their hope and vision
they remind us
that life is holy.
Bless all who create in your image,
O God of creation.
Pour your Spirit upon them
that their hearts may sing
and their works be fulfilling.
Amen.

Birthday Prayer
Thank you, God, for giving me another year of life.
Thank you for all the people who remembered me today
by sending cards, and letters, gifts and good wishes.
Thank you for all the experience of this past year;
for times of success which will always be happy memories,
for times of failure which reminded me of my own weakness and of my need for you,
for times of joy when the sun was shining,
for times of sadness which drove me to you.
Forgive me
for the hours I wasted,
for the chances I failed to take,
for the opportunities I missed this past year.
Help me in the days ahead to make this the best year yet,
and through it to bring good credit to myself,
happiness and pride to my loved ones,
and joy to you. Amen.

Employment Prayer
Mary our Lady of the Miraculous Medal,
you once experienced hardships and difficulties
in getting the necessities of life.
Look kindly on me now
as I face the same difficulties.
Help me to find suitable employment.
Through my work I want to meet my physical needs
and to grow spiritually.
Help me find a job that lets me provide for myself
and for those who depend on me.
I trust you, Immaculate Mother,
to hear my prayers and intercede for me.
I will share your goodness with others
that they may know your power with God
and give him honor and glory.
Amen.

Pettiness - Keep Us From
Keep us, O God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with faultfinding and leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretenses and meet each other, face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.
Let us take time for all things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put in action our better impulses-straightforward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things of life that create difficulties; that in the big things of life we are as one.
Oh, Lord, let us not forget to be kind.
Amen.

Prayer For The End Of The Day
Lord,
You have been with me all through this day,
stay with me now.
As the shadows lengthen into darkness
let the noisy world grow quiet,
let its feverish concerns be stilled,
its voices silenced.
In the final moments of this day
remind me of what is Real.
But let me not forget
that you were as present in
the stresses of the day just past
as you are now
in the silence of this night.
You have made me for
day and for night,
for work and for rest,
for both heaven and earth.
Here in this night
let me embrace and not regret
the mysterious beauty of my humanity.
Keep me in the embrace of your Reality through the night,
and the day to come.
Surround me with your silence
and give me the rest that only you can give--
Real peace,
now and forever.

Prayer for Shelter Against the Storm
God of heaven and earth, God who carries our lives and the lives of
our whole community in your hands, be with us in the peril of this
day/night. Help us to release our anxieties and fears into those
same caring hands, knowing in faith that your will for us is life
and everlasting good. Send your holy angels to watch over us and
guard us. May they spread their holy wings to give us shelter
against the storm. For you alone, O God, are all good, all life, all
love, and that love is for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayer to Start the Workday
Almighty God, we bless and praise Thee that we have wakened to the
light of another earthly day; and now we will think of what a day
should be.
Our days are Thine, let them be spent for Thee. Our days are few,
let them be spent with care. We pray Thee to shine on this day-the
day which we may call our own.
Lord, we go to our daily work; help us to take pleasure therein.
Show us clearly what our duty is; help us to be faithful in doing
it. Let all we do be well done, fit for Thine eye to see. Give us
strength to do, patience to bear; let our courage never fail.
When we cannot love our work, let us think of it as Thy task; and by
our true love to Thee, make unlovely things shine in the light of
Thy great love. Amen.

Prayer for the Courage to Look Within
May all sentient beings have the courage to look within themselves
and see the good and bad that exists in all of us. May we open our
hearts, shining the light of love into the dark recesses where doubt
and fear reside. May we have the courage to step into that light and
embrace whatever we find, letting it rise to the surface freed by
the act of loving kindness.

Our Father,

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve thy
